Burning The Backbone...

Ruthie and I went out for a hike on the Backbone trail in the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness. Windy, clear night spent under the tarp on top of Turpentine Hill. I was lucky enough to see the wildest shooting star i've ever seen while gazing up at the sky from my sleeping bag. Finished out the trail among smoke from the controlled burns in and around the trail. The wind was keeping some of the larger logs and trees burning. I had almost forgotten how nice it is to get out into the woods with what's on your back. Won't be waiting that long again. Enjoy.
